What is a typical day in your life like?

I usually get up around 6:30a.m.. I arrive at school around 7:45a.m. read my mail and get ready for my day. I teach 6th grade Life Science in the morning and reading, religion and 5th grade General Science in the afternoon. After school I correct papers and get my lessons ready for the next day. In the evenings, I spend time with my husband, play volleyball or go to choir practice.

What kinds of hobbies to you have at home?
I like to play volleyball, sing in my church choir, travel, and read.

How did you get to be a 'Featured Teacher'?
After graduating from UNO with a B.S. in elementary education and a specialization in science, I began teaching 7th and 8th grade science. I currently teach 5th grade General Science and 6th grade Life Science. I attend many workshops each summer to enhance my science curriculum. I work closely with the National Dairy Council when conducting experiments each year with albino rats. I have been a member of the 4-H for 10 years and hatch chicken eggs every spring. I enjoy learning new ways to to enrich my students education.

What thing or things do you find most interesting about the brain?
The topics I find interesting about the brain are memory, emotions and dreams.
